Values are calculated live from the international spot price and exchange rates and show the pure metal value. Prices at jewellers, banks and bazaars include workmanship, premiums and spreads and are usually higher. Precious metals · Gold
How the gold price per gram is calculated
One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams. The price of one gram of pure gold is the international spot price per ounce divided by 31.1035 and converted at the current exchange rate. Lower karats contain less gold: 22K is 91.6% gold, 21K 87.5%, 18K 75% and 14K 58.5%.
Why shop prices are different
Jewellers, banks and dealers add making charges, taxes and a buy–sell spread, so retail prices are usually higher than the metal value shown here. Use these figures as a reference, not as an offer to buy or sell.
